Luke's work has been compared to a monkey squish-box, it is urgent and sublime...or sub-slime...like a prowling Jaguar, in a swamp.
Rooted in photography Luke's work started out exploring the “tyranny of the lens”, his current work playfully uses collage and paint.
"I have been working over the years to find new ways to expand just exactly what constitutes as photography.
What is a Photograph?
The use of light to create an image?
Chemicals that change and react, due to exposure to a light-source?
Why does the focal plane not actually represent what we see?
This enquiry forms the strand of my work called Photism."
His recent work has built on this and has created it's own kind of eco-system over the years.
"I use components of my work again and again, re-photographing, Photoshopping, photocopy-ing drawings and prints, taking my images and using them to VJ with, then taking screenshots from that and using these images to create elements for new work, continuing the process."
